Two men convicted of causing deaths of mum and daughter in deadly Leeds crash
Justyna Hulboj and her daughter Lena Czepczor were hit by an Audi TT which lost control after racing down Scott Hall Road
Two men who sped through Leeds, before one of them lost control of his car and hit a woman and a 4 year old child, have been convicted of causing their deaths.
29 year old Hardeep Bhachu, of Adel, admitted to causing the deaths of 27 year old Justyna Hulboj and her daughter Lena Czepczor, 4, after losing control of his Audi TT on Scott Hall Road in January 2023.
A second man, 37 year old Jasskamal Riyat of Moortown, was racing Bhachu at the time in his BMW and has today been convicted of two counts of causing death by dangerous driving.
Dashcam footage captured both drivers, who didn't know each other, boasting to each other above the power of their vehicles and speeding through traffic in the moments before the crash on January 16 2023.
Justyna was walking Lena to school when both were struck by the out of control Audi near a car dealership.
Both died at the scene, where tributes remain to this day.
Detective Inspector Paul Conroy, of West Yorkshire Police’s Major Collision Enquiry Team, said:
“This was an absolutely horrifying collision that I know even shocked experienced collision investigators."
"An innocent mother and daughter who were simply making their way to school never made it there and tragically never made it home because of the selfish, reckless actions of these two men.
“Bhachu and Riyat didn’t know each other. They were two men showing off their fast cars on a busy dual carriageway.
“We have released a video which shows the moments leading up to this collision. It is upsetting to watch but I hope that it might make people think about their own driving and encourage conversations with friends and family.
"Ultimately, Bhachu thought he could drive at those speeds in his high-powered car, but he couldn’t, and his loss of control took two lives and ruined many more."
In a statement, the fiance of Justyna and father of Lena wrote:
