Detectives say enquiries into the New Wortley attack remain ongoing
A 26-year-old man has been arrested in London on suspicion of murdering a man in Leeds.
The victim was Rahiem Jackson, known as Reema, who was 38 and from Leeds.
West Yorkshire Police said the man was arrested overnight by the Met Police and remains in custody.
Rahiem died after being attacked on Hedley Chase in New Wortley on Saturday 24th October.
Enquiries are continuing, led by the force's Homicide and Major Enquiry Team.
Detective Chief Inspector Dan Bates, of the Homicide and Major Enquiry Team, said: "This arrest is significant development in the murder investigation of Rahiem Jackson."
He added: "Officers are continuing to support the family."
What happened on Hedley Chase
Police received a report at 10.23pm on Saturday 24th October that a man was being attacked with weapons on Hedley Chase.
Emergency services attended and paramedics treated the man, but he was pronounced dead a short time later.
A murder investigation was launched.
Police believe four people armed with weapons carried out a sustained attack on Rahiem.
Detective Chief Inspector Bates said at the time: "This was a targeted and isolated attack; we are appealing for any information to who may have been involved to come forward and provide details to us."
Rahiem's family released a tribute after he was named.
They said: "Rahiem was loved and adored by his sisters and family. He had a beautiful heart and beautiful soul; his smile was so infectious, and he lit up the room with his presence. Rahiem would have gone above and beyond for anybody he cared for."
They added: "A very cowardly, cruel and senseless act of vicious violence has resulted in our brother's death. He wasn't just a brother he was a son, an uncle, a father, a partner, a nephew, a cousin, a grandson, brother in law and friend and he did not deserve to die the way he did. We are heartbroken and in so much pain and have been left inconsolable as a family. If anyone has any information to help the police find the persons who murdered Rahiem, please can you come forward."
