Man arrested after PCSO attacked with 'bladed weapon' in Leeds

A man has been arrested after a PSCO was attacked with a blade in Leeds earlier this week.

The officer needed hospital treatment after suffering hand injuries, after attempting to apprehend a suspected shoplifter outside Farmfoods on Waterloo Terrace, near to Bramley Shopping Centre.

This happened at around 5:25pm on Tuesday (September 23).

Chief Superintendent Steve Dodds of West Yorkshire Police, said: “Any incident in which a knife is used clearly has the potential to have very serious consequences."

"Fortunately, in this case the officer was not seriously injured and was discharged following hospital treatment.

“A man has been arrested and remains in custody and a full investigation into the incident is taking place.
