Keighley's Sugden End recycling centre could reopen before Christmas - after it was closed down as part of cost cutting measures in 2024.
The proposal aims to reduce congestion at remaining sites and give residents more options for waste disposal.
Sugden End was one of three recycling centres closed in April 2024 to save money, alongside Golden Butts in Ilkley and Ford Hill in Queensbury. Now, the council is looking to reopen it.
This comes as the remaining sites have been very busy at peak times, causing long queues and congestion on nearby roads. Reopening Sugden End is expected to reduce this pressure.
The council is also looking at opening all HWRC sites on bank holidays.
Bradford Council handles more than 200,000 tonnes of waste a year, with around 38,000 tonnes deposited at HWRCs.
But, since the closures, waste deposited at HWRCs has fallen by around 2,172 tonnes, around 5%.

“With the current national changes to waste and recycling, this move, as well as extending openings to bank holidays, will increase our recycling rates and give residents more options when wanting to deposit waste.”
Recycling at the centres currently contributes around 5% of the council’s overall recycling rate, and increased provision could help improve recycling and reduce disposal costs.
If approved, the bank holiday opening would begin in March next year.
