A man's been arrested after a car crashed into a pub in Huddersfield on Saturday night.

The incident happened at around 11pm on April 4, when a blue BMW 335D smashed into the pub's smoking shelter.

Two men suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

After the collision, the BMW driver allegedly assaulted two men, aged 34 and 52, who attempted to prevent him from fleeing.

He then left the scene in a white Volkswagen Golf, which reportedly had a damaged rear window.

The victims of the assault were not seriously injured.

Investigations led to the arrest of a 35-year-old Huddersfield man elsewhere in the town.

He is suspected of drink driving, causing serious injury by dangerous driving, and two assault offences and has been released on bail.

Police are keen to speak with anyone who witnessed the BMW or the white Golf at the scene.

Officers also think the blue BMW was travelling in convoy with a black Audi S3 prior to the crash.

Anyone with information or footage is urged to call 101.
