Two men from Leeds have been arrested after thieves broke into business premises in Nottinghamshire and stole £10k's worth of Pokémon cards.
The incident happened at just after 1am on Saturday, at a storage warehouse in Aurillac Way in Retford. The warehouse's alarm system alerted the police that thieves had targeted the premises.
The thieves cut fencing and removed bricks from a wall to gain entrance to the building. They stole Pokémon cards with a value of over £10,000.
CCTV footage identified the thieves' van which was using cloned number plates. Police then tracked it travelling to South Yorkshire and then on to Manchester where officers intercepted it in a storage yard. Two men were then caught removing the boxes from the van containing the stolen cards.
Two men, aged 24 and 26, both from Leeds, were arrested on suspicion of burglary.
Detective Sergeant Andrea Brown, who is investigating the incident, said:
"In a few hours of the burglary occurring, we have not only arrested two suspects but secured the stolen goods."
"This was excellent work by officers from Nottinghamshire and Greater Manchester Police."
"Both forces came together to find those responsible for a high-value commercial burglary."
"Burglary has a detrimental impact on businesses and residents. It is not only the financial loss but the emotional distress this crime causes."
"That’s why we will do everything we can to track down those responsible as this result clearly shows."
