Paul Hart from Shafton was fatally injured in the collision
The family of a man who died following a collision on the Hemsworth bypass have paid tribute to him.
Paul Hart, who was 57, was fatally injured when the car he was driving was involved in a crash with another car.
It happened on the A628 Hemsworth bypass, between the junctions of Southmoor Road and Brierley roundabout, at around 6am on Saturday 24th October.
In a statement released today, his family said:
“It is with great sadness that the family of Paul Hart share the news of his tragic passing on Saturday, 24th October 2026, following a road traffic collision on the Hemsworth bypass, whilst driving his wife to work.
“Paul was a beloved husband, son, brother, father, stepdad, uncle, brother-in-law, and true friend. "More recently, he took immense joy in becoming an exceptionally proud, doting grandad to his five-month-old granddaughter.
“His sudden loss is devastating to all who had the privilege of knowing him. Paul will be lovingly remembered and profoundly missed by his family, friends, colleagues, and his extended Airsoft family.”
Officers from the Major Collision Enquiry Team are continuing to appeal for any witnesses to the collision or the circumstances leading up to it, particularly anyone with relevant dashcam footage.
A 20-year-old man who was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving remains on police bail.
