Cyclist hurt after collision with bus in Leeds

Police are appealing for any witnesses

An investigation is getting underway a collision between a cyclist and bus in Leeds.

Police say they were called on Wednesday afternoon to the city centre.

A 36 year old man was taken to hospital with serious head injuries.

Police now want to speak to anyone who saw what happened.

A Police statement said:

"Police are appealing for witnesses following a serious road traffic collision in Leeds city centre involving a cyclist and a bus.

"The incident occurred in Whitehall Road at about 3.25pm on Wednesday, January 29, and involved a double-decker bus and an electrically assisted pedal cycle.

"The rider, a 36-year-old man, sustained serious head injuries and remains in hospital in a critical but stable condition.

"Enquiries into the circumstances of the collision are ongoing, and officers from the Roads Policing Unit are keen to speak to any witnesses, particularly anyone who was a passenger of the bus which was a number 229 service travelling to Leeds city centre from Heckmondwike."
