A Cleckheaton man has been jailed for four years and nine months after admitting to multiple terror offences.

36 year old Tygue Crowther was convicted of one count of encouragement of terrorism and one count of dissemination of a terrorist publication under the Terrorism Act 2006.

He also faced six counts of possessing documents likely to be useful to a terrorist.

Crowther was arrested in June 2024. During a house search, digital devices were recovered, revealing a library of terrorist publications and extreme right-wing content.

He publicly shared Nazi propaganda and materials that could assist acts of terrorism.

Crowther aimed to establish his own right-wing neo-Nazi group using an alias on social media to spread racist and antisemitic views to recruit supporters.

He was sentenced at Newcastle Crown Court earlier today, also receiving an additional one year on extended licence to be served with his sentence.

Detective Chief Superintendent James Dunkerley, Head of Counter Terrorism Policing North East, said:

"Viewing and sharing terrorist documents is not a victimless crime and just one document such as Crowther shared could lead to countless others being radicalised."

“The content of these kinds of publications is hateful, divisive, and they encourage others to commit violent attacks.

“Those that seek to divide our communities through sharing extremist material will be identified and brought to justice.”
