A 65-FOOT-tall excavator will be used to demolish two distinctive structures in Low Moor in the coming weeks.

Plans to demolish the two large silos at the former cement on New Works Road in Low Moor have been approved by Bradford Council.

The demolition process is expected to take around four weeks and begin in early April.

The application to demolish the silos and a neighbouring single storey building were submitted to the Council by Kevin Naylor of Auto Electrics Group, and it says the distinctive structures are “redundant and no longer required.”

Approving the work, planning officers said: “The supporting information notes that the structures are outdated, in poor condition, and represent an obstacle to future use of the land. Their removal is intended to improve the condition and safety of the site.”

The work will be carried out by Jennings of Pudsey, with a 65 ft tall high reach excavator being used to pull down the silos.
