A man has been jailed for over eight years after a shooting in Bradford last year that left a man with life-changing injuries.

25 year old Mohammed Kamal, of Girlington Road, admitted to section 18 wounding and possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence after the incident on Oak Lane.

The shooting took place on April 19 2025 following a verbal altercation involving several men.

The victim, a 22-year-old man, sustained serious injuries as a result of the gunfire.

Kamal was sentenced at Bradford Crown Court to eight years and two months behind bars.

Speaking after the sentencing, Detective Inspector Suzanne Hall of West Yorkshire Police said:

“We welcome the sentence of Kamal today, firearms have no place in society and we take offending of this nature extremely seriously."

“The use of a firearm could have had fatal consequences; the victim is lucky to be alive."

“Anyone caught using a firearm will be dealt with robustly by the courts.”
