Bradford City have confirmed that striker Andy Cook has joined League Two side Grimsby Town on loan for the remainder of the season.

The 35-year-old Durham-born forward leaves after five years with the Bantams, in which he made a significant impact both on and off the pitch.

Cook initially joined Bradford City on loan in 2021, scoring eight goals in 21 appearances - a crucial contribution that helped the club retain its Football League status.

He then signed permanently at the end of that campaign and went on to represent City in 205 matches, scoring 88 goals and providing 24 assists.

His achievements include placing fourth on Bradford City’s list of all-time record goalscorers, behind club legends Bobby Campbell, Frank O’Rourke, and James Hanson.

During the 2022/23 season, Cook was named PFA League Two Player of the Year after scoring 31 goals, including 28 in the league - making him the division’s top scorer.

He earned a spot in the League Two Team of the Season and played a pivotal role in Bradford’s promotion to League One last season, finishing as the club’s top scorer with 15 goals.

Reflecting on his departure, Cook said: “The last five years have been nothing short of unbelievable. This place has been my home, and saying goodbye is incredibly heartbreaking."

“From the bottom of my heart, thank you to every single one of you for the love and support you have shown me throughout my time here, both on and off the pitch.

“I would like to thank Ryan Sparks for believing in me from the very first moment I walked through the door. To my teammates, both past and present, thank you for the memories, the battles, and the brotherhood.

“Finally, thank you to all the staff, especially those who stood by me during the darkest days when injury tried to break me. I cannot thank you enough. You helped me through moments I will never forget.”
