Bradford based charity says average debt in region is now £12,000
Christians Against Poverty say that'll take 9 years to pay back
A Bradford based charity says people in Yorkshire it helps now have an average debt of £12,000.
Christians Against Poverty say paying that back would take nine years.
The organisation says it's helped 1800 people in our region over the last five years.
It's been working with local churches for more than 30 years to help people in financial crisis.
Chief Executive, Stewart McCulloch, says, "“Debt is now far more challenging to repay.
"Living in spiralling debt is dangerous. It often results in families unable to afford healthy food, living in cold, damp unsafe properties and facing isolation, anxiety and depression."
