A 16-year-old girl is in hospital with life-threatening injuries after being hit by a car in Leeds on Saturday (December 13).

The collision happened around 8pm on Barwick Road, shortly after the Seacroft roundabout, with a white Ford Fiesta colliding with the teenager.

Police arrested the driver of the Fiesta, a 31-year-old man, at the scene.

He was detained on suspicion of driving over the prescribed limit of drink and drugs, theft of a motor vehicle, and causing serious injury.

He has since been released on bail while inquiries continue.

West Yorkshire Police are now seeking witnesses who may have seen the Ford Fiesta before the collision.

They are particularly interested in dashcam or CCTV footage showing the car on Barwick Road or York Road leading up to the incident.

Anyone with information can contact officers on 101.
