Around 450 jobs are set to go at Nestlé, according to the trade union GMB.

The announcement of job losses today (23rd April) forms part of a wider reduction in Nestlé's workforce.

The company announced in 2025 that 16,000 roles would be cut.

"That process is ongoing" a spokesperson said.

"As always, we will manage any changes in the right way and in consultation with our people. Any proposed changes will always be shared with those affected first."

Nestlé has a number of factories across the UK, including sites in York, Halifax, Dalston, Girvan and Tutbury.

They make a number of brands, including Kit Kat, Milky Bar, Aero and Felix cat food.

The majority of jobs are expected to go in York and Gatwick, but other factories could be affected.

Charlotte Brumpton-Childs from GMB said: “These job cuts will rip the heart out of communities.

“Nestlé workers – who make some of the UK’s best loved treats – have already put up with years of uncertainty and job losses.

“GMB will be working closely with members and the company to ease the pain of these cuts as much as possible.”
