Officers from Middlesbrough's Proactive team stopped a blue VW Golf on Southfield Road at around 4pm yesterday afternoon. This followed reports from the public and Middlesbrough Borough Council's neighbourhood officers that the vehicle was believed to be involved in drug dealing.

Following searches, the 30-year-old driver was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs (heroin) and for suspected drug driving.

A 52-year-old man, who was a passenger in the car, was also arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs.

Both men have since been interviewed and released on bail while investigations continue.

Police continue to urge members of the public to report any information about suspected drug dealing in their area.
