Teesside International Airport has marked a significant milestone with the painting of the Airbus A320-233, which will carry the FIFA World Cup Trophy on its global tour.

The plane was painted by Airbourne Colours, a specialist aircraft painting firm based at Teesside Airport, which applied the custom red livery for Titan Airways.

The plane will travel the world, starting its tour on 3rd January in Saudi Arabia, showcasing the 18-carat gold trophy in 75 locations.

Airbourne Colours' success comes as it expands operations, having launched its second 27,000-square-foot facility last year, creating more jobs.

Teesside Airport's Managing Director, Phil Forster, expressed pride in the collaboration, highlighting the expertise of Airbourne Colours.

Tees Valley Mayor Ben Houchen hailed the event as a significant accomplishment for the airport, emphasizing Airbourne Colours' positive impact on local employment and international recognition.

This aircraft's journey adds to its achievements, having already visited key cities across Europe and Asia.

The World Cup is scheduled to occur between 11th June and 19th July 2026 in Canada, Mexico, and the United States.
