A new partnership's set to launch later this month in the Tees Valley to showcase the new mental health and wellbeing support that's available for children and young people.

There's going to be a number of collaborative events to raise awareness about what help's on offer.

Sara Mirsalehi, development manager of Tees Valley Getting Help, said: "The hope is that we bring everyone together and we can demonstrate that how we're all working together collaboratively to make sure children and young people feel safe, feel supported, or those that they work with children and young people know exactly where to go in order to access the right support at the right time.

"We talk always, don't we, about mental health week but for us every day is a mental health day. We have to make sure that we are creating that culture of our children, young people, feeling like they can open up, there's someone who will listen to them and no one is struggling on their own and there's always someone to go to.

"We definitely see it through our data, the number of referrals that we're getting through our front door and that it's constantly on the rise and we get more and more children and young people who require support.

"I think you could also say that we're pleased that they're aware and they know how to access support and so they're not struggling on their own. But at the same time, we do believe that there are lots of contributing factors.

"There is definitely a whole host of reasons that we see an increase in our number of children and young people who require that early intervention and support. It's also fair to say that there are lots of amazing, thriving young people all out there, and also all the young people who get the access to the early intervention and prevention will thrive as well, so sometimes you need that bit of advice, a bit of guidance."
