Cyclists of all abilities in Teesside are being urged to help support a children's hospice support service next month.

More than 200 riders are expected to take part in this year's Stokesley Charity Bike Ride to raise money for Zoe's Place in Middlesbrough.

It's happening on Sunday 10th May starting from Stokesley Town Hall on the high street at 10am (with sign ups from 9am). The entry fee is £20 which goes to Zoe's Place.

The 30-mile route goes through North Yorkshire's countryside and villages.

Nick Leech is one of the organisers from Stockton Wheelers Cycling Club and he said: "I think this is the 28th year and really the aim of the cycle ride is to raise money for a local charity. And over the years we've raised 10s and 10s, hundreds of thousands of pounds. It's been absolutely amazing.

"We tend to get 200 plus cyclists, which is fantastic. There's 200 odd people who want to give a bit of their time. So the more the merrier, you know, we can accommodate an awful lot of people. And sometimes weather affects it. The last two years, we've been really lucky. The weather's been amazing."

Zoe's Place in Middlesbrough, said: "We were absolutely delighted to hear that the Stockton Wheelers Cycling Club Committee unanimously selected Zoe’s Place Baby Hospice, Middlesbrough as their chosen charity for this year’s Stokesley Charity Bike Ride.

"We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Nick Leech, Chair of Stockton Wheelers Cycling Club, along with all club members and participants who dedicate their time and effort to making this event such a success and for raising vital funds to support our work.

"The ride has previously raised over £20,000 for Zoe’s Place—an incredible achievement, representing £1,000 for every year the hospice has been open. This level of generosity makes a truly meaningful difference to the families we support.

"Zoe’s Place is the only hospice in the UK dedicated specifically to babies and young children aged 0–5 with complex needs or life-limiting conditions. We strive to help them live life to the fullest, embracing childhood through therapy, play, and sensory experiences. Our holistic approach ensures support for the entire family, offering comfort, reassurance, and practical help when it is needed most.

"We rely heavily on the generosity of our community to continue providing this vital lifeline, with annual running costs exceeding £1.8 million.

"We are very much looking forward to attending the event and experiencing the incredible community spirit that makes this ride so special. Local charities like ours are truly fortunate to have the ongoing support of Nick and everyone involved, whose dedication keeps this wonderful tradition going year after year."
