Police have arrested four suspects from Stockton - including a 16-year old boy - after a pursuit involving a 4x4 near Stokesley.
At 9.05pm yesterday, an officer on a vehicle patrol near The Green in Stokesley spotted a silver Mitsubishi Shogun 4x4 that was travelling south at speed towards the High Street.
A Roads Policing Group officer was alerted and got behind the 4x4.
However, the driver failed to stop and a pursuit was authorised.
The Shogun was lost from sight for a short time after it broke through a barbed wire fence and went off-road over farmland.
Thanks to support from the local community and a significant police response in the area, it was found abandoned stuck under a fence in a field near Ingleby Greenhow at 9.40pm.
A 16-year-old boy from Stockton-on-Tees was arrested while running away from the vehicle ten minutes later.
Two 21-year-old men and a 19-year-old woman were arrested after officers pulled over a Teesside-based taxi at 10.39pm. They are also from Stockton-on-Tees.
They have been released on conditional bail after being questioned in relation to multiple suspected offences, including dangerous driving, failing to stop, drug-driving, possession of cannabis, theft of a motor vehicle, driving without insurance, and assisting an offender.
