Teesside foodbanks in demand during half term
The foodbanks in Middlesbrough say they're there to help people in need
Foodbanks in Teesside say they're prepped and ready to help families in need during half term as well as many others.
It's as free school meals aren't funded during the holidays in England.
Tracey Godfrey-Harrison, project manager of Middlesbrough Foodbank, said: "We can get really busy as children are at home for lunch instead of at school, so parents need to provide for their kids and we see a rise in the number of clients we serve.
"I think last year our numbers were down but this year we're right back up there again and I think that's because of the cost of living and other financial burdens.
"People say that they wouldn't be able to cope if it wasn't for the food that they get at the food bank and that's quite sad really but yeah they tell us that they're really grateful and thankful that we're here for them.
"It's people who've got jobs, but the mortgage and other bills have to be paid and obviously we see families coming in, lots of single people. It's just, it's right across the spectrum really at the moment."
