Five who died in A66 crash may have had links to criminal activity

Five young men who died after their vehicle hit a police car on a dual carriageway may have had links to “serious and organised criminal activity”, police said.
Cleveland Police reported that before the incident, two cars were noted for dangerous driving, one allegedly ramming properties.
The collision involved a Volkswagen Passat, driven the wrong way on the dual carriageway, which collided with a police car.
The deceased included Cole Robert Worthy, Theo Rae, Makai Saddington, and Michael Robert Cahill, all aged between 17 and 23.
Pc Matthew Blades and Pc Tom Clough also lost their lives in the crash, which occurred in South Bank.
Involvement of Suspected Criminal Activity
Police have arrested 12 people on suspicion of criminal activity linked to the Passat, including potential involvement in organised crime and possession of weapons and drugs.
Claims suggest the vehicles operated with cloned number plates, though no evidence indicated their activities were filmed for social media purposes.
