Durham’s men’s and women’s teams will both face Lancashire today in what will be the club’s first-ever T20 home double-header.
This is the first year Durham have had a pro women's team - with today marking their first home T20 league match.
Durham Cricket are proud to announce that its 2025 Vitality T20 Blast season will begin in partnership with The Chloe and Liam Together Forever Trust, a charity created in memory of Chloe Rutherford and Liam Curry, from South Shields who lost their lives in the 2017 Manchester Arena attack.
On Sunday, 1 June, Durham’s men’s and women’s teams will both face Lancashire in what will be the club’s first-ever T20 double-header, marking a significant opening to the season.
The day will be dedicated to celebrating the lives and legacy of Chloe and Liam and supporting the work of the charity established in their names.
The Chloe and Liam Together Forever Trust, founded eight years ago by their families, helps young people across the North East reach their potential in performance and sport, through bursaries and support for grassroots organisations.
Liam was a passionate cricketer and a supporter of Durham Cricket, making the partnership deeply personal and meaningful to the club.
To honour their memory, there will be special performances on the pitch and in the Fan Zone, while representatives from the Trust will be available on-site to speak with supporters, share the charity’s mission, and encourage donations or involvement.
David Jackson, Marketing Director at Durham Cricket, said:
“This is the fourth year we’ve partnered with the Chloe and Liam Together Forever Trust. They were young supporters of our club, and the charity set up by their families is doing outstanding work in our community—supporting young cricketers and performers, just like Liam and Chloe were. We’re proud to help raise awareness and funds to ensure their legacy continues to inspire others.”
A spokesperson from the Together Forever Trust added:
“We’re honoured to once again partner with Durham Cricket for this special day. Chloe and Liam loved sport and performance, and this celebration brings together everything they stood for. We’re grateful to the fans who continue to support our mission of helping young people achieve their dreams.”
The Durham Women’s T20 fixture begins at 1:30pm, followed by the Durham Men’s match at 5:30pm.
