Cult burger joint coming to Middlesbrough
Burger Drop to open this Autumn
Set to open this autumn, the new site will bring Burger Drop’s signature precision and cult status to 20 indoor covers, with takeaway and delivery via Uber Eats. Staying true to the brand’s no-compromise approach, the Middlesbrough restaurant will deliver the same serious attention to flavour — using high-quality ingredients and engineered technique to create what a proper burger should look and taste like.
Founded in Newcastle in 2020 by entrepreneurs Hasan Hamid and Amer Qayyum, Burger Drop has grown a loyal following thanks to its streamlined, flavour-led menu and cult-like appeal. The brand already operates restaurants in Newcastle, Whitley Bay, Sunderland, Manchester and, most recently, Edinburgh.
“Following the success of our other five venues, we’re buzzing to bring Burger Drop to Middlesbrough” said co-founder Hasan Hamid.
“It’s a place that fits our DNA — full of energy, creativity and community spirit. We can’t wait to open the doors and serve up what we do best.”
Burger Drop is known for its precision-engineered smashed patties, freshly ground and served on signature brioche buns, as well as their crispy fried chicken burgers. Menu icons include the Classic Smash (American cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle and Burger Drop sauce), as well as the Halloumi Smash, Grilled Onion Smash. Crowd-favourite loaded fries come stacked with toppings like Angus beef, Spicy Cheese & jalapeños, or Chicken Gyro with shawarma chicken, garlic sauce and sesame seeds.
The menu also features Chicken Tenders—available in Classic, BBQ and Spicy – and a lineup of thick indulgent milkshakes in flavours like Oreo, Biscoff, Peanut Butter, Salted Caramel and more.
The Middlesbrough opening marks the next step in Burger Drop’s UK rollout — fuelled by high standards, bold flavour, and a clear-cut obsession with serving the best burger you've ever tasted.
About Burger Drop
Founded in Newcastle in 2020, Burger Drop has quickly grown into one North’s most talked-about independent burger brands. Built on an obsession with craft and an engineered precision of process, the brand focuses on craft at every level — from how the beef is ground to how the bun holds heat and structure.
With a simplified, punchy menu, signature sauces and cult-favourite sides, Burger Drop has earned a loyal following among Gen Z and millennials who expect more from their burgers than just hype and melted cheese.
With restaurants in Newcastle, Whitley Bay, Sunderland, Manchester and Edinburgh, the Middlesbrough franchise becomes the brand’s sixth UK site, with further locations planned as part of its national expansion.
