We're being reminded the A19 is going to be closed around the Norton Interchange this weekend - as well as continued night closures into next week.

National Highways North East will be removing the footbridge this weekend (17-19 October), refurbishing it off site before reinstalling it in January 2027.

They say they will need to close the A19 between the entry and exit slip roads at the A1027 interchange during these times:

📅 Overnight closures

• 12 to 16 October, 8pm to 6am each night

• 19 to 23 October, 8pm to 6am each night

⚠️ Weekend closure

The A19 will then be closed in both directions between the slip roads throughout the period between 8pm on Saturday 17 October until 6am on Monday 19 October.

🔃In both directions, traffic will be directed off the A19 via the A1027 exit slip road and through the interchange to re-join the A19 via the entry slip.

During the weekend closure, temporary traffic lights will be in operation at times on the slip roads. The A1027 westbound from Wolviston Road will also be closed, and a signed pedestrian diversion will be in place while the footbridge is removed.

National Highways North East are encouraging drivers to plan ahead and avoid the area if they can.
