Motorcyclist dies in Ferryhill collision; passenger severely injured
Police seek witnesses and footage to aid investigation
A 38-year-old motorcyclist has tragically died following a collision on the A167 near Ferryhill in the early hours of 5th August.
Emergency services were called to the scene at 1:05 am, where the Yamaha 600cc motorbike was involved in a single-vehicle accident with a pillion passenger onboard.
The rider was pronounced dead at the scene, and the passenger, a woman in her twenties, sustained life-changing injuries, receiving treatment at the University Hospital of North Durham.
Durham Constabulary has launched an investigation into the circumstances of the incident and is appealing for witnesses or individuals with dashcam or CCTV footage of the motorcycle prior to the collision.
The bike is believed to have been traveling northbound from Chilton to Ferryhill at the time.
