Caroline Pym MBE, a revered former Wiltshire county councillor, has passed away at the age of 95, leaving behind a legacy of dedicated public service in Malmesbury.

Mrs Pym died peacefully at home on 7th October, as announced by her family following a period of post-stroke care.

Her long-standing commitment to local service was recognised at a Wiltshire Council meeting on 20th October.

Notably serving as a Wiltshire county councillor for eight years and as a magistrate in Malmesbury, Mrs Pym's contributions transcended political duties.

She took on roles as governor for Malmesbury's schools and pioneered a youth support scheme, alongside facilitating community transport for disabled individuals.

Her passion for conservation, notably through the Civic Trust, included a successful fundraising effort to restore floodlighting at Malmesbury Abbey.

Appointed MBE in 2011 for her contributions, her dedication to Malmesbury is celebrated fondly by her family.

Mrs Pym is remembered not only for her public service but as the mother of BBC journalist Hugh Pym, further embedding her ties to the community.
