Three people have pleaded not guilty to charges relating to a fatal shooting at a traveller site.

Shane Porter, 35, his father Eddie Porter, 74, and Tammy Brown, 42, appeared before Bristol Crown Court on Friday.

They are charged in connection with the murder of Jimmy Ward, 36, in Calcutt, near Cricklade, Wiltshire, on August 2.

Shane Porter denied charges of murder and possessing a shotgun without a certificate during the court hearing.

Eddie Porter and Brown both denied charges of assisting an offender and possessing a shotgun without a certificate.

The defendants, who all appeared via video link, will stand trial on those charges in February next year.

Judge William Hart told them: “I will adjourn the case for trial on February 1.

“Those who are in custody will remain in custody. Ms Brown, your bail will continue as before, on the same terms.”

The judge said a further case management hearing would take place on January 22.

He told the court that the trial was expected to last up to three weeks and would likely be before Judge Peter Blair, the Recorder of Bristol.

Wiltshire Police were called to the traveller site by South Western Ambulance Service at about 8.15am on August 2.

Emergency services attended and Mr Ward was pronounced dead.

It is alleged that Shane Porter shot and killed Mr Ward, with Eddie Porter and Brown then driving from their home town of Luton to Swindon.

They are accused of taking possession of the shotgun “with intent to impede the apprehension of Shane Porter”, charges allege.

Porter, of Calcutt Park, Calcutt, Eddie Porter and Brown, both of Luton, Bedfordshire, will next appear before Bristol Crown Court on January 22.
