Swindon Wildcats goaltender Tyler Perre to undergo surgery for tumour
In a statement on the club's website Tyler Perre said a tumour was found in his lungs in July and will need to be surgically removed
Swindon Wildcats goalie Tyler Perre has told fans he needs to undergo surgery after a tumour was found in his lungs.
In a statement on the club's website and shared on his social media Perre said:
"I want to share some personal news with you all. In the past years I have been dealing with some serious health issues regarding cancer in my spine and abdomen, in total I’ve had 5 tumours removed and 6 weeks of radiation treatment to fight this since 2021-2022, I have been cancer free ever since. Unfortunately in a routine MRI back in July, the doctors have found a tumour has now spread into my lungs, that will need to be surgically removed. This is due to be on the 15th of September.
This does mean my season will be coming to an end briefly, however I’ll be back stronger than ever in no time! I want to be as open and honest about why I’ll be away from the team so there is no misunderstanding. This is obviously a tough time for me and my family, but I’m fortunate to be in the hands of an excellent medical team, and I’m ready to face this challenge head-on.
I just want to say that I’m so thankful and grateful to the Swindon Wildcats organisation, my teammates, and all of you – the fans. The Wildcats family has always been a special one, and knowing I have that strength behind me means the world. Thank you all for your support so far this season and I hope to be back as soon as I can!
Thank you - TP62"
