Jordan Turner, founder of Save Lives, No to Knives, based in Swindon, has renewed calls for greater education on knife crime following a tragic incident that has deeply affected the Southwest, where a 16-year-old boy from Chippenham died after a stabbing.

Turner, whose organisation focuses on educating young people about the consequences of knife crime, expressed devastation over the incident, calling it “heartbreaking” and extending thoughts and prayers to the affected family.

Speaking about the importance of educating children, Turner highlighted the impact awareness can have:

“I think that if your child is educated on the impacts and consequences that knife crime can have, they are less likely to be involved in knife crime. Before I lost my brother Lee, I didn’t know anything about knife crime. I wasn’t educated on it. I wasn’t even aware of it.”

Save Lives, No to Knives works tirelessly to teach young people about knife crime’s effects, aiming to reduce future generations’ involvement. Turner confirmed that the organisation is extending its efforts to Chippenham and surrounding areas, with plans to visit a youth club this week and host a community event next week where worries can be voiced and community-wide education offered.

In recognition of his efforts and dedication, Turner has been nominated for the Pride of Swindon Award, with winners to be announced on 5th March. Turner will join other nominees at a ceremony alongside Swindon Borough Council representatives.

He expressed gratitude for the nomination and thanked the public for their support:

“Whether I win or not, it means a lot to me to be at the stage I am at with the public’s help and support. For all the pain we’ve gone through losing Lee, turning it into something positive and having it recognised is a lovely thing.”

Wrapping up, Turner extended sympathy and solidarity with the grieving family impacted by the recent tragedy:

“To the boy’s family and friends, our thoughts are with you.”

Turner and his organisation will continue their work to support communities in Swindon, Wiltshire, and across the Southwest in the fight against knife crime.
