Train passengers in the South West could face delays after radio fault
Services affected by a communication issue between drivers and signallers
Train services across southern England, including the South West, are experiencing disruptions due to a fault with a radio system.
National Rail Enquiries reported that the issue involves the communication between train drivers and signallers.
Passengers have been warned that services may face delays of up to 45 minutes or potential cancellations, and ‘major disruption is expected until the end of the day’.
The affected train operators include CrossCountry, Gatwick Express, Great Western Railway, London Overground, Southern, South Western Railway (SWR), and Thameslink.
The fault was initially reported shortly before 9am on Thursday, the 7th of May.
South Western Railway has alerted passengers that its services “may be cancelled, delayed by up to 90 minutes, or revised”.
The operator also stated, “Our operations and engineering teams are working with signallers to find and fix the fault. We do not have an ETA (estimated time of arrival) yet for when signalling will be back to normal.”
Passengers are advised to consider using buses while the issue is being investigated.
