Investigations continue after a fatal shooting near Cricklade.

A man in his 30s, named locally as Jimmy Ward, died following an incident at a traveller site in Calcutt on Sunday morning.

Two people have been arrested and police say they're searching for a third suspect, who's believed to have had an interaction with the victim on Saturday evening (02/08)

A murder investigation has since been launched, leading to the arrest of two individuals on suspicion of assisting an offender and possession of a firearm.

They are currently in custody as enquiries by the Major Crime Investigation Team continue.

Authorities are searching for one person who is believed to have interacted with the victim the evening before the shooting.

Urgent efforts are underway to locate and apprehend him.

A scene remains in place at the site, and efforts to resolve the situation are ongoing.

Senior Investigating Officer Detective Chief Inspector Phil Walker, from MCIT, said: “First and foremost, my thoughts remain with the victim’s friends and family at this sad time.

“Our investigation has been continuing at pace since the incident was first reported and it is a Force priority to locate the outstanding suspect, who is thought to have left the Wiltshire area.

“I understand the concern that this incident will have caused for our local communities.

“Our officers are currently at the scene and the Mobile Police Station is in Cricklade today – if you have any concerns or questions then please don’t hesitate to speak with us.”
