A man has died after his car crashed into the back of a lorry on the A419 this morning.

Police were called to the road between Swindon and Cricklade at around 7:30am this morning after a report that a grey Tesla Model Y travelling northbound had collided with the back of a Scania lorry parked in a layby.

The driver of the Tesla, a man in his 40s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say his next of kin have been informed and there were no other reported injuries.

The A419 remains closed northbound while an investigation is carried out, with a closure in place from the Turnpike junction.

Police are appealing for any witnesses to the collision or anyone with dashcam footage to come forward.
