The M4 Westbound has been closed near Swindon after a lorry carrying tonnes of hay bales caught fire.
Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said they were called to the motorway between J15 and J16 at 11.54am today (3 August).
Three fire crews are at the scene and the fire service say further resources have been requested due to the "challenging conditions."
A spokesperson for the fire service said: "We were called to the M4 westbound between J15 and J16 at 11.54am today (3 August) for a fire involving a lorry trailer laden with approx. 12 tonnes of hay and 27 bales of hay. "
The motorway remains closed westbound and there is also severe congestion eastbound.
In an update on social media at 12:55pm today (30 July) Wiltshire Police said the westbound carriageway is expected to remain closed for around five hours.
Drivers are being urged to allow extra time for their journeys.
