Four arrests after police operation in Swindon
The arrests followed a pre-planned drugs warrant in the Liden area
Four men have been arrested in Swindon on suspicion of firearms related offences.
The arrests followed a pre-planned drugs warrant in Galsworthy Close in the Liden area this morning.
Specialist police units, including firearms officers and neighbourhood teams, supported the operation.
The four men remain in police custody.
Inspector Joe Senior said: “I would like to thank the local community for their support while we conducted this operation, which has now been resolved peacefully.
“In addition to local firearms officers Wiltshire Police was also supported by specialist firearms officers from the Counter Terrorism Specialist Firearms unit. For clarity it is common practice for forces to utilise the specialist skills those officers provide.
"This was a precautionary measure and there were no reported injuries.
“The support of our communities is vital in tackling local and organised crime. If you see something that doesn’t look right or have any information about suspected criminality, please report it either online or by calling 101. In an emergency always call 999.”
