A man has been jailed after using a hotel room in Swindon to store and prepare Class A drugs.

Barry Bramble, 32, formerly of Vyners Close, Cirencester, was sentenced to five years and six months in prison at Swindon Crown Court after pleading guilty to possession with intent to supply crack cocaine and heroin.

On 16th February this year, Bramble was arrested after being found to be in possession of crack cocaine, while still being on licence for a previous Class A drugs offence.

Police say his arrest was the result of an ongoing investigation by the Serious Organised Crime United, who had linked him to drug supply in Swindon.

Officers later discovered he had been using a hotel room in the town to both store and prepare Class A drugs, leading to the seizure of more crack cocaine and heroin.

He was subsequently charged and remanded into custody.

DC Jared Yalden from SOCU said: “Bramble is a repeat offender who was still on licence for his previous offending when he was caught again with cocaine and heroin.

“Cracking down on criminals like Bramble is a priority for our team. We know that drug networks are heavily linked with organised crime, violence and antisocial behaviour, which has a significant wider impact on our communities.

“It also has a sizeable impact on young people, with teenagers being targeted and groomed by organised crime groups into selling and distributing drugs on their behalf.

“We will continue to work relentlessly to target drug dealers in our communities. Our work is only possible through community intelligence – if you have any information, please report it to us via 101 or through our website.

“Information can also be left anonymously with Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.”
