Lauretta's experience with breast cancer showcases the importance of early detection and the resources offered by Breast Cancer Now.

Diagnosed through routine screening, Lauretta relied on the charity's leaflets, website, and Moving Forward Course for crucial support.

As she trains as a volunteer, her sister-in-law also faced a breast cancer diagnosis, while her husband contributes by running the London Marathon in aid.

Breast Cancer Now is committed to the vision of ‘Breast Cancer Now until we’re Breast Cancer Never,’ with the ambition that by 2050, everyone diagnosed with breast cancer will live and live well.

The charity is addressing common misconceptions revealed in its UK-wide survey, which includes 57% of people who haven't faced breast cancer not fearing diagnosis despite it being the leading killer of working-age women in the UK.

Nearly a third of people are unsure where to find reliable information, highlighting the importance of trusted resources.

While awareness of certain treatment side effects, such as hair loss, is relatively high, knowledge about its impact on fertility and menopausal symptoms is less widespread.

Furthermore, misconceptions persist, with over a fifth of people unaware that men can also be diagnosed with breast cancer—400 cases happen annually in the UK.

Breast Cancer Now is using science and support combined to change the landscape of breast cancer treatment and awareness.

The charity is going to double its research investments over the next five years, specifically targeting progress in incurable secondary breast cancer.

By harnessing AI and new technologies, Breast Cancer Now is spearheading efforts to transform existing medications and innovate treatment options faster.

Committed to ensuring everyone lives well post-diagnosis, the charity's endeavours underline the urgency needed to combat breast cancer effectively.
