Police seek information after report of rape in Lewes
The incident happened on Christmas Eve night
Police are asking for the public's help following a report that a man in his 30s was raped in Lewes.
The victim was near Brook Street, close to Pells Pool, between 10pm on Christmas Eve and 3am on Christmas Day when the incident is said to have taken place.
Specialist officers and care professionals continue to support the victim, while the investigation is underway.
Detective Inspector Gavin Patch of Sussex Police commented on the ongoing investigation and reassured the public that efforts to gather evidence are continuing.
"Following the launch of this investigation, we would like to reassure the public that a dedicated team continues to work diligently to explore all available lines of enquiry," DI Patch said.
"As part of this work, police presence can be expected in the Pells Pool and Brook Street areas, as well as in other parts of Lewes, including around Eastgate Street and Lansdown Place.
"Members of the public can also play a vital role in helping us build a clearer picture of events, whether they are local residents or were visiting the area."
DI Patch encouraged anyone who may have witnessed suspicious activity, has footage from the area, or holds any relevant information about the incident to come forward.
"If you think you can help in any way, it is important that you contact police," DI Patch said.
