Investigation underway following tragic A66 accident

Several lives have been lost in a collision involving a police vehicle and a Volkswagen Passat near Middlesbrough, prompting a police investigation and expressions of sorrow from Cleveland Police.

The tragic accident occurred in the early hours of Saturday morning, 22nd August, on the A66.

Chief Constable Jo Shiner expressed her sadness in the wake of the event, stating:

“I am deeply saddened by what has happened in Middlesbrough. The impact of this tragedy will be felt by many across the country and I offer my heartfelt condolences to everyone affected. As enquiries continue, my thoughts remain with those coming to terms with this loss and with those providing support in the days and weeks ahead.”
