A 64-year-old man has been sentenced to four years in prison for raping a woman in Horsham during the 1990s.

Oslen Kelman, of Lambert Road in Lambeth, London, was charged with three counts of rape against a woman who was known to him.

The victim, a woman in her 50s, reported being raped by Kelman in a motorway service station toilet. She also stated that Kelman had raped her multiple times over a sustained period.

Following her initial report to Sussex Police, the victim received specialist support both from officers and support organisations throughout the investigation and court proceedings.

Kelman was arrested and charged before facing a first trial in March 2025, which resulted in a hung jury.

A retrial was held at Lewes Crown Court, where, on 28th November 2025, Kelman was found guilty of one count of rape related to the service station assault and acquitted of two other rape charges.

On Friday, 30th January, Kelman was sentenced at Lewes Crown Court to four years in prison for the offence.

Detective Constable Gemma Nickols praised the victim’s courage in coming forward.

“I would like to thank the victim in this investigation for the courage and determination she has shown to report Oslen Kelman’s offending to us and help hold him accountable for his crimes,” Nickols said.

“Thanks to her strength, Kelman is now rightly behind bars having faced justice.

“Our message to other victims of sexual offences, no matter how long ago, is to please report to Sussex Police. We will support you, we will investigate and we will do all we can to get the justice you deserve.”
