A motorcyclist has died in a crash on the A272 near Kirdford, and a woman has been arrested.

The 48-year-old man, from Billingshurst, was riding a red Ducati eastbound when it collided with a green Vauxhall Frontera travelling in the same direction.

It happened close to the junction with Linfold Road at about 1.20pm on Saturday 26th September.

The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.

Sussex Police said his next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.

The driver of the Vauxhall, a 52-year-old woman from Horsham, was uninjured.

She was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, drug-driving and driving without insurance.

Police said she has been released on bail until 14th December while the investigation continues.

Officers are appealing for anyone who saw what happened, or who captured relevant dash cam footage of either vehicle in the moments leading up to the crash, to come forward.

Anyone with information can contact Sussex Police, quoting Operation Oracle.
