The hearing will take place at 10am on Tuesday 13 January 2026 at East Sussex Coroner’s Court in Lewes, and will be led by Senior Coroner Laura Bradford.

Mr Long, known as Ollie, was 36 and lived in London, having originally grown up in Wendover, Buckinghamshire. He was found on 23 February 2024. Notes left for his family indicated he had taken his own life following long-term struggles with gambling addiction.

Ollie’s family say his gambling problems began around 2016 after he started betting on football. Although he sought help from the charity GamCare and later blocked himself from licensed online gambling sites, he returned to gambling in 2023 using illegal overseas websites that were not covered by UK self-exclusion schemes.

In messages left before his death, Ollie described his addiction as “devastating” and said he could no longer cope with the impact it was having on his mental health.

The inquest will hear evidence from the Gambling Commission about the risks linked to illegal gambling websites.

Ollie’s family are being supported by legal representatives and the charity Gambling with Lives.
