East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service is at a large fire in Hove.

It was called at 10.54am to reports of a fire at a leisure centre, on Kingsway.

Crews have been using six breathing apparatus and two main jets to tackle the fire in the basement area of the building.

Just after 12pm, there were 7 fire engines in attendance.

The building has been evacuated and all persons accounted for.

Police and ambulance have also in attendance and people have been asked to avoid the area.

The fire is now out and crews are managing and ventilating the scene.

There are no reports of any casualties.

There are road closures in place and traffic congestion.

As of 3.05pm, the incident has been scaled down to one fire engine. Crews remain on scene and are continuing to ventilate the property and monitor temperatures.

Initial investigations indicate that the cause of the fire was accidental, starting in a small workshop storage area in the basement of the building.
