The High Court has been told that the Home Office acted unlawfully when approving the use of a former military training camp to house asylum seekers in East Sussex.
Crowborough Shield, a community interest company, is legally challenging the decision made in January to accommodate up to 540 men at the site.
The move aims to reduce hotel use for asylum seekers, aligning with policy changes pledged by the Labour party.
Barristers for Crowborough Shield argue that the Home Office's decision-making was not transparent and lacked proper justification.
The company seeks to have the decision declared unlawful and overturned, and the hearing continues before Mr Justice Mould.
