The 2026 Brighton Naked Bike Ride has been postponed due to safety concerns arising from a clash with another protest and a scheduled counter-protest on the same day.

Organisers said: “We feel we will be unable to guarantee the safety of riders, which is our main concern. This is due to a clash with another protest announced this week together with a counter protest scheduled for the same day.

“This was not a decision we took lightly but amongst the committee members we felt we had no choice.”

Brighton has a long-standing history of advocacy on various issues, and the organisers intend to reschedule the ride rather than cancel it altogether, hoping to set a new date for late summer to early autumn.

“There is much work behind the scenes to ensure you have a safe and joyful experience in a very important protest against fossil fuel culture in particular. This year, events have shown us that we cannot continue to rely on fossil fuels to drive the planet. There are alternatives and we must make this clear in our protest going forward”, said organisers.

Adding: “Thank you for your support and understanding.”
