Appeal after serious assault in Chichester

Police are appealing for further witnesses and information, after a serious assault in Chichester city centre.

The incident happened at around 7pm on 14th March, outside the Dolphin and Anchor public house in West Street.

The victim, a 61-year-old local man, was approached by a man not known to him and assaulted.

He may have been struck with a bottle during the incident and sustained injuries.

Officers have arrested a 20-year-old local man on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm, who has been bailed pending further enquiries.

Witnesses or anyone with further information such as mobile phone footage or CCTV is asked to report it to Sussex Police online, quoting serial 1270 of 14/03.
