A 59-year-old man has died following a fatal collision between a car and a pedestrian on the A27.

The A27, near Dyke Road, was closed for some time yesterday (6 June) after emergency services were called to the scene at around 9:15am.

A car was reported to have collided with a pedestrian, who is understood to have fallen from a footbridge passing over the carriageway.

The man was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

The A27 near Hove has now reopened.

Police say there are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding the incident at this time, although enquiries are ongoing to understand exactly what happened.
