Police search for suspect after incident in Municipal Gardens

An investigation is underway following reports a man causing damage, assaulting people, and making racially abusive comments in Aldershot.

Hampshire Police say they were called out to Municipal Gardens shortly before 7:30pm on Tuesday (16 June).

Officers carried out a search but the suspect had fled the area before they could be located.

Enquiries are ongoing to identify the man and the victims are being supported.

Anyone with information should contact Hampshire Police.

Labour MP for Aldershot Alex Baker said in a post on social media: "Let me be clear: violence, intimidation and racism have absolutely no place in Aldershot.

"No one should feel unsafe in their own neighbourhood because of who they are, where they come from, or the colour of their skin."
