A Surrey-based professional artist has been detained indefinitely for a series of arson attacks and assaults motivated by extreme right-wing ideology.
Milo Creese, 40, accepted his actions but claimed he was mentally unwell during the incidents, which included targeting an Indian restaurant and 5G masts across Surrey.
He was cleared of multiple charges by reason of insanity, including arson, damaging property, possession of an offensive weapon, and assaulting emergency workers.
Creese has been diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder and, following reports from two psychiatrists, was ordered to be detained under the Mental Health Act.
The Old Bailey heard evidence showing Creese's deep-seated hatred of Muslims and belief that atrocities were linked to 5G masts.
On October 31st last year, Creese set fire to the 3 Rooms Indian Restaurant in Chertsey, Surrey, but firefighters managed to contain the blaze.
Footage showed him setting fire to a telecommunications box and a 5G mast on subsequent occasions, leading to his arrest after firing a crossbow bolt into a woman's house.
Creese had never been in trouble with police before but had a history of heavy crystal meth abuse.
Despite denying charges, he did not answer questions during police interviews or his trial.
Prosecutor Lyndon Harris described Creese's actions as motivated by extremist beliefs and a desire for violence.
