Ipswich Town have siged Azor Matusiwa from Stade Rennais.

The central midfielder, who is a product of the Ajax academy, has penned a four-year deal and moves to Portman Road for an undisclosed fee.

Now 27, Azor progressed through the ranks with de Godenzonen and enjoyed a loan spell with De Graafschap while on the books in Amsterdam.

In 2019 he moved to Groningen where he made more than 50 appearances across all competitions.

Two years later Azor completed a transfer to Reims, and, after 75 league games and three years at the Stade Auguste Delaune, he signed for fellow French side Rennes.

Influential in and out of possession, the Dutchman featured 29 times in Ligue 1 last term.

Azor is the club’s third summer signing after David Button was brought in to support the goalkeeping unit and the loan arrival of Cedric Kipre.

Matusiwa says "I'm a person who likes to feel things and it felt immediately very good. In this moment I felt this is the club where I had to be."

Meanwhile the Tractor Boys have also signed Cédric Kipré on loan.

The 28-year-old defender has joined from French side Reims and will spend the 2025/26 campaign at Portman Road.

A powerful centre-back, Cédric came through the youth system at Paris Saint-Germain but got his first taste of professional football with Corby Town.

In 2017 he signed for Motherwell and a year later he returned south of the Scottish border, penning a three-year contract with Wigan Athletic.

Following two years with the Latics, Cédric signed for West Bromwich Albion and in the 2023/24 campaign he picked up both the club’s Players’ Player of the Season and Supporters’ Player of the Season.

He also had loan spells with Charleroi and Cardiff City while on the books at West Brom.

In July 2024 Cédric returned to France when he signed for Reims, and the 2024/25 campaign saw him make 28 appearances for the Red and Whites in Ligue 1.

The defender also made his senior debut for Ivory Coast last month, playing the full 90 minutes in a friendly against New Zealand.

Standing at 6’4” and with 174 Championship appearances to his name, Cédric will bolster Town’s defensive options for the season.

Kipré says “I spoke with the Manager and I really liked what he said about the way he wants to work. He wants to work hard – I also want to work hard.”
